What makes a good trailer?

Trailers is a way to announce the films that will be coming soon.Over the years, the display of trailers has increased due to social networks like YouTube.

The trailer must capture the mood of the movie. The trailer has to focus on emotions and feelings instead of the main plot which makes the audience stay with the intrigue and want to watch the full movie.

Music is very important. Sometimes music can improve or make a trailer worse. If the wrong type of music is used for a scene, it can confuse the viewer or bore him. Music is used to generate emotion, and also to capture the attention of the viewer.

A trailer must have enough information to hook the viewer, but without giving too many details, because if it shows too much, the viewer may lose interest.

Trailers usually have a narrator that explains what is happening

A trailer must also be focused on the audience, which means that it must be announced at the right time on TV or through social networks, for the chosen audience to see.

To create a good trailer not only do you have to show the correct scenes but you also have to be wise when advertising.

Diferences between film opening and a trailer

Hi everyone, today I will be explaining about the diference between film opening and a film trailer.

Film opening:

Film opening is the beginning of a movie normally the title, the main characters and the location comes out, must be able to attract the viewer and continue watching to see how everything unfolds.

Characterestic:

Aproximetly 2 minutes long .

Normally include opening credits.

The title and company usually of the film apear.

Trailer:

The trailer is a way to advertise, the purpose of the trailers is to attract and notify the audience so they watch the movie.


Characteristic trailer:

Most have a narrator.

Created to attract audience.

advertise before they release of the film.

Diferences:

Trailers are only used to advertise.

Trailers have many different scenes in them.

Film opening have opening titles.

Film openings do not show the films plot .

History of trailers

Hello bloggers, today I will be explaining the history of trailers, I hope you like it.

The first trailer shown in an American film theater was in November 1913.

Nils Granlund, the advertising manager for the Marcus Loew theater chain, produced a short promotional film for the musical The Pleasure Seekers, opening at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway.

The first trailers were shown after the movie ended, when they realized that this way it didn't work because people left as soon as the movie ended, they started talking or they ignored the progress, they changed it.

To force the audience to see it, cinemas began showing trailers before the movie began, if the audience paid attention.

In the early 1960s, the face of movie trailers changed. Textless, montage trailers and quick-editing became popular and largely due to the arrival of the "new Hollywood" and the techniques that were becoming increasingly popular on television.

What is a trailer?

Hello Bloggers, today I´m going to explain all about trailers and how they are created.


The trailer is a way to advertise about a movie that is going to come out new. The trailers tell us the story of the movie but without giving many details, this leaves the viewer with the intrigue. The purpose of the trailers is to attract and notify the audience so they watch the movie.

How its formed:

The trailer is made out of a variety of different shots, these often includes the scariest, funny, or most actions parts of the film.

These scenes will be shorter than those shown in the movie to not give too many details, the trailer also includes dialogue and music.

Time and lenght:

The trailers cannot be too much long, because they can not show all of the movie and if the trailer is too much long can be bored.

The trailers usually last normally, 2 min and 30 sec, just enough to capture the attention of the audience, any trailer that lasts longer, could cause the audience to lose interest in watching the movie.

Structure of a trailer:

The struture is divided in four main section:

Opening: Usually establishes setting and introduces characters and situation.

Build up: The situation is developed and relationships established.

Problem: A series of complications follows and problems to overcome.

Events-ending: A series of events builds anticipation and provides further complications that will be resolved on viewing the film.

MPPA Rating Cards:

This stands for Motion Picture association of America, this provides parents the information needed to determine if a film is appropriate for their children. Depending on the themes of the movie such as sex, violence, drugs and other types of content for adults, it will be suitable from a certain age.

Hello bloggers, today I will show you the different types of film genre, this is one of the first things we need to do,  it is very important to investigate on some of the film genres because is essential as one of our main tasks is to create two trailers. This will help us to understand each genre and it will make deciding a genre between us much easier.

ACTION

In this genre we will see different types of sequence of action, such as: fight, explosion, persecutions, etc. The purpose of this type of genre is to keep the viewer's attention.In action movies the protagonists are involved in a series of events that generally include violence, prolonged fights, physical feats and persecutions.

 

COMEDY

In these type of film the main theme is the hummor.Comedy films are designed to provoke audience laughter. Comedies are cheerful dramas, designed to have fun and entertain. The genre of comedy exaggerates the situation, language, action and characters. They usually have happy endings, although they can have different endings.

ADVENTURE

These type of film genre include: superheroes, pirates, and survival films. The movie include exotic setting, the creation of empires, characters embarking on treasure and heroic journeys, travels, explorations, quests and searches for the unknown usually also having to overcome an adversary.

SCIENCE FICTION

This type of genre is based on the technology of the future, is typically based on speculative scientific discovery or development, enviromental changes, space travel or life on the other planets.

HORROR

Horror movies are disigned for create suspense and scare the audience, these is combined with The visual of the scene or its soundtrack wich is a key element when inducing a specific emotion in the viewer. A movie dosen't work if the music dosen't represent the rhythm of the scene, the construction of the suspense and the feeling of fear, which the director proposes in the movie, has to play with emotions.

ANIMATION:

Animated films are those in which individual drawings are photographed frame by frame, each frame changes a bit from the previous one, giving the illusion of movement.

MUSICAL:

This genre is characterized by showing a musical or dance performance as part of the narrative, they are films that focus on combinations of music, dance, song or choreography.

DRAMATIC:

Dramatic films are serious stories with life situations that portray realistic characters in conflict with themselves, or others.

ROMANTIC:

Romantic movies are love stories that focus on the passion, emotion and romantic and romantic involvement of the main characters.

CRIME:

Movies of this genre generally involve various aspects of crime and its detection.

Reflection From Last Year

I am now in my last year of school, I will be focuse on a new task which involves designing a promotional package for a new film, also I will need to include two different trailers, a website and a poster for promote the film,.

Last year, I had to create a film opening using the horror genre, and we had some problems recording the scene becouse we dodn´t get a long very well, also I also found that one of the main problems last year was the way we planned out time.

In these year I will be working with my pathner of the last year, he is called Angel.

Now that I know my mistakes, I will try my best not to make them again, I will also improve my blog and make the trailes better.
